Seaton families in Blair Atholl and Moulin
« on: Monday 31 December 18 16:46 GMT (UK) »
We have been asked to look at the Seaton families (various spellings) which straddled the boundaries between the parishes of Moulin, Blair Atholl, Dull and Logierait. This is a daunting task and our findings may not accord with some 'established' Seaton family trees on other sites. The further back in time we delve, the sparser the evidence - so there is always room for doubt.

Currently we are working on five separate family trees, but will only put them on-line one at a time.

The first tree is still under development and you will see markers where we still have to gather information. Likewise some hyper-links will not work as they connect to parallel family trees which currently lack a return function.

We have been as diligent as possible, but if there are obvious errors, or gaps which can be filled, please feel free to contact us through the borenich web-site.

Here is the link to the first Seaton family tree:

Here is the second Seaton tree - those connected to Balrobie.

It will link to the first Seaton tree and also to a small tree concerning Alexander Setton and Jean Paterson who appear to have come from Crieff although they claimed to be from Blair Atholl and Moulin.

Two more Seaton family groups which link to the previous Seaton groups

Family Group 3 look like incomers who seem to have originated from Crieff, but we could be wrong.

Family Group 4 links to Seatons in Cargill, Ceannamoin, Conlach, Croftlea, Donavuilt, Fonvuick, Orchil-more, and Rhynd

Three more Seaton family groups to play with:

Family Group 5 looks at the Seatons in Balcraggan of Coille Bhrochain (by the Garry Bridge)
http://www.borenich.co.uk/Ross_Document/Seaton_Balcraggan.html

Family Group 6 looks at the Seatons in Pitdornie and Tombea, including Cecil Seaton
http://www.borenich.co.uk/Ross_Document/Seaton_Pitdornie.html

Family Group 7 looks at the Seatons in Ardtulichan
http://www.borenich.co.uk/Ross_Document/Seaton_Ardtulichan.html

All are unfinished and will have further data added in the near future.

The other 4 Seaton groupings have been updated.

Two more Seaton family groups have been added to the Borenich web-site:

Family Group 8 has information on the Seatons who ran the Salutation Hotel in Perth and the Moncrieff Arms at the Pitcaithly Spa near Bridge of Earn.

http://www.borenich.co.uk/Ross_Document/Seaton_Salutation.html

Family Group 9 covers all of the Seatons in Kirkmichael parish. It would appear that they came into the parish from earlier families in Blair Atholl and Moulin.

Throth, fascinating stuff, a whole load of work so many thanks. The Kirk elders were hard pressed keeping up with the parish horizontalists!  ;D
