Some dates and places would be helpful  :)

The nearest I can come up with is a marriage in Southampton reg district in 1940 between Ronald R H.... and Dorothy J J...man

Are they still living

Hi there....no both now deceased.

I have no information at all about them. Joan is my grandfathers youngest sister....he was William Francis Jakeman but  she was born after 1911 because he was the youngest in the family then based on the 1911 Census. The family history seems to be around Staffordshire...mainly Stoke on Trent. So Southampton wont be the place Id say. Ron Hughes's mother was a DeHavilland (or so the family think). My mum thinks they were divorced around the time of WW2.

Thank you so much for the help

How about? It’s the only female Jakeman/Robinson birth 1911-1918:

JAKEMAN, DOROTHY  JOAN mmn ROBINSON
GRO Reference: 1913  S Quarter in WOLVERHAMPTON  Volume 06B  Page 1249

The name and initial would fit with the Southampton marriage, found earlier.

William Francis was accused of bigamy

29 March 1934 - Coventry Evening Telegraph - Coventry, Warwickshire, England

13 April 1934 - Coventry Herald - Coventry, Warwickshire, England

Dorothy Joan gave evidence as she was a bridesmaid at the first wedding in 1932

So Southampton wont be the place Id say.

it was war time. Thinking of some of my own single women relatives,  People were moving about all over the place, especially that age group.
I don't think you can rule it out just because of location.
