How close to the 1 July 1837 date do you have a B/M/D?

I was reading about The 1836 Act for the Registering of Births, Deaths, and Marriages in England and things surrounding the build up to it and let was interested in how close to start of it anyone had a BMD registration. Mine is 1st Aug, my 3x great grandfather, so only a month after the start. That's the closest one off the top of my head.

My 3x great grandmother married her second husband on 30 July 1837.

My great grandfather George Daniel Leggett, Corton, Scarborough and Hartlepool, born 18th of July 1837. He's a very mysterious character as he managed to avoid most of the censuses during his life. He was an illiterate seaman, so he might have been away at sea, but I think there is more to it than that.

I have a couple that married on the 3rd July 1837. Lucky they just scraped in to the civil reg era.

Since birth and death registrations are retrospective I imagine there will be people registered on 1st July (was it a working day?) who died a few days earlier or were born a few WEEKS earlier. 

Unless the rules were for events taking place on or after 1st July rather than the recording of those events.

I'm sure Guy will know!

Usually mine are born just before registration or died the year before a census lol

I think the rules for events was any births on or after 1st July 1837. So a birth on 30th June would not need to be registered.

Same for marriages.

I have wondered about this before in respect of marriages - surely the first marriages would not be registered for at least 22 days since the couple would have to give notice or have banns read and then wait for the prescribed period before the ceremony could take place?  Unless the marriages were by licence, I suppose?

If the banns were ready the three weeks before the 1st then the marriage could be registered.
