gro regimental birth indices

hi, i have a gro regimental birth indice transcription for george clarke year 1834 wigan england regiment 59th foot volume 1147 page 19 record set --british armed forces births -- , does that mean a baby called george clarke was born to a father in the 59th foot in 1834, thank you
Clarke---- wotton under edge Gloucestershire and widnes Lancashire
GOODE  stourport /Kidderminster /Huddersfield
Holloran ---galway Ireland

Yes it does.  You can use the GRO reference to get a copy of the birth cert.

PS the 59th were in Dublin until May, then Liverpool then Manchester until Sep/Oct when they went to Gibraltar.

thank you , ive been looking for a birth of a george clarke ( who was in the 59th ) but said he was born in bristol and came from wotton under edge( his army paper info) -- ive looked down all avenues and cant find his birth -- maybe his father was in the 59th as well and george was born in 1834 instead ,

The 59th Foot became (with the 30th) the East Lancashire Regiment in 1881 so a soldier described as in the 59th would be serving before that date.  What are the "army papers" you refer to in your post and do they give clues as to dates?
