So this is the family of Thomas Smith and Helen Morgan.

Looks as if Helen died in 1892 in Glasgow Kelvin, though her age is a bit at odds with her age in the 1881 census. If it is her, her death certificate should tell you whether or not Thomas died before her, which will then narrow down the search for his death. His death certificate should tell you the full names of both his parents including his mother's maiden surname. Then you can see if you can find his baptism, and those of any siblings including Archibald.

All this information is available at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk though there are quite a lot of people whose baptism records have not survived.


Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
