Possibility that they were cremated, rather than buried :-\  And so records in a different location  :-\

Added:  Do you have their death certificates?  Who were the informants - could they have been from a different area? 
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
