JM, extremely interesting...

The Canadian Army record I mentioned earlier was a ‘hint’ on Ancestry which I can’t access because I don’t pay for Canadian records but 16 Sept 1813 is the same date.  It suggests he was born 1794 Yattenden, Berkshire.

He sure was a military man...

No sign of a marriage to Bridget though!

I appreciate your efforts.

Bitzar.

I do not have immediate suggestions, but you could look for the possible death of Charles and purchase the record.

Others will have more information regarding the possible content of such documents pre early 1850.

Reply#7 this thread suggested you purchase Mary Ann's marriage in Victoria ( available  for immediate download upon payment).
This would likely hold information to further your search.

Hi again

Bitzar.

Hi there,

I am not a descendant of Charles or Bridget, but if Mary Ann were my ancestor, I would go through every bit of info on her marriage certificate first, before seeking Charles or Bridget, and so ....

I agree with Sue's post  :)

If you are looking for a death for Charles, if he died in NSW pre civil registration (1 March 1856) the NSW BDM Early Church Records will have scant family history origins, but may well be helpful with which cemetery and when buried  :) and of course Victoria was not hived off until 1851, so it can be  good to check NSW BDM online indexes  :)  and if possibles are listed,  then official transcriptions are a cheaper option....

ADD,  so with knowledge of the cemetery, it can be an offline search for the cemetery's own registers/records

These people aren’t any relation to be either but just a twig that caught my attention...  The info that you all have given is very interesting and I appreciate your NSW expertise because NSW research and I don’t mix!  :o

I thought that if I could find this Charles and Bridget maybe buried together it could narrow things down.  Mary Ann’s Victorian MC would absolutely be the best option but $$$.

I just just arrived in Sydney now for my first attempt at the Nsw archives.

Thanks again.

JM - how right you are about the staff at Kingswood!

So while I was there today researching my crazy (no, literally crazy) NSW relatives I had a look at the WOOLFORD’s.  So the Charles who died at Tarban Creek Asylum in 1846 WAS the husband of Bridget.  He was Fisherman who came free.  He had 9 children and was committed by a James WOOLFORD!  I wonder if he was an older son?!?!  He fell of a ladder and had a had injury and ‘nek minut’...
