I have just ordered a birth certificate from 'certificates.ie' so fingers crossed.
That's a shame as I actually you will not get any further information than what is on irishgenealogy.ie which is free  :(.  I understand that the certificate will have a photocopy of the relevant section of the registration page

Oh, well that's 20 euros wasted.

Though, as I am going to use this to apply to be entered on the Foreign birth Registry, maybe it needs the 'official' response?

Oh absolutely no waste then, you do need the official copy if that is your intention. BTW I went through the process last year - my father was Irish, born in Galway, so now I am the proud owner of an Irish passport. My son is applying too through his grandfather. All certificates produced had to be originals or official copies.

There are two Thomas Sullivans, both Farmers.
One has a daughter, Norah in reply #8.
One has a son, Patrick who becomes a Publican.
Am I thinking straight here - first married to a Mary Doran [mother of Honora in 1872], second to a Margaret Doyle [mother of Pat in 1865]?

ADDED: Familysearch shows these children [may not be comprehensive]
Thomas Sullivan & Mary Doran
Richard 1867, Mary 1869, Martin 1869, Bridget 1870, Honora 1872, Bridget 1873, Martin 1875
THomas Sullivan & Margaret Doyle
Pat/Pat John 1868, Mary 1869

I see that's in the New Ross area of Kilkenny - are they close? [EDIT yes I see they are next to each other

I've also looked for Mary Doran & Margaret Doyle also Thomas Sullivan marriages 1855 - 1870 in New Ross [Edit - and also in other Wexford sub districts] but can find none with same registration references for both names...may try browsing parish registers at https://registers.nli.ie/

"I looked for a marriage for Honora in New Ross area and can only see one and this one has an unknown father  :-\"

'"My" Honora / Norah was married in England in 1897 to my Great Grandfather, George Armstrong.

"Thomas Sullivan & Mary Doran
Richard 1867, Mary 1869, Martin 1869, Bridget 1870, Honora 1872, Bridget 1873, Martin 1875"

Great to have Honora's siblings!

If I apply to go on Foreign Births register with:

My Birth and Marriage Certificates
My Father and Mothers Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates
and
My Grandmother Honora/Norahs:
Certified Irish Birth Registration
Plus
English Census 1891
English Marriage Certificate 1897
English Census 1901
English Census 1911
English Death Certificate

My Grandmother must be the Hanora / Norah from above, there is no other candidate that comes close.

Will that be enough I wonder?

You have all gone to great lengths and I thank you for that!

I know that your Norah was married in England.

I was trying to check that the Hanora  from New Ross whose birth we have found and you have linked to your Norah isn’t accounted for elsewhere in the area through either marriage or death.

What date of birth does Norah show in 1939?

Oh, I see, sorry.

Norah’s death certificate in 1941 gives age as 67.

This tallies with census returns and marriage certificate and makes her birth year 1874.

Is it possible that, having declared herself 2 years younger than she actually was in the 1891 English Census, she kept up the pretence?
