Until 1980s when a woman married she lost hetr own  nationality and became a national of her husband's citizenship.   NOT until Commonwealth of Australia passed dual citizenship did they also sort out married women citizenship....  I have a wondetful aunty born Central west NSW 1925 alive and very alert and a US citizen ,,,,, WWII war bride  .... and only recently finally got her Australian citizenship back so now is a dual ... or as she  reckons .. she is a pure  jewel ...    IF she had married a British Subject same deal ... remember NO such thing as Australian citizenship until 1949.

And yes the whisper was from descendant of Royal George .... apparently it was never discussed
But possibly Amy aka Ada came from a well to do family and was disowned .
