Monument Inscriptions St Beuno Bettws Cedewain
« on: Sunday 06 January 19 20:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi I am trying to find out if there are any monument inscription records  available for St Beuno's in Bettws Cedewain.  Specifically, my 7 x Great Grandfather was buried there in 1683, name Abraham Swayne.  I cannot find his birth so hoping there may be some info on any inscription records.  Thanks, Mandy

Hi Mandy and welcome

They may be available elsewhere by now, but I bought quite a few Montgomeryshire MIs via Genfair.

I've just found this :

Just checked and he's not on the online MIs but is on the burial records. No age given.

Hi thank you for replying, you are right he is on the burial records with but with no age.  I know this is the right person as I also have a copy of his will which was actioned in 1683.  Looking at the church history online it looks like there were grave stones in churchyard going back that far, and I was hoping that as he left a will there was a stronger possibility there would have been a headstone.  Also thanks for the link I've not used Genfair before, I will check what's available through them  :)

Do you have the record of a possible son, Abraham, baptised Betws C on 26th Nov 1682. Parents are given as Abraham and Ann.

Hi yes I have him as one of 7 children that were born to Abraham and Ann around that time.  I did initially wonder if that Abraham was the one who died because of the absence of an age, but as I have the Will for 1683, I can verify that it was the father who died.  He refers to his wife and chlldren by name in the Will.
