Relatives of Lily/Lilian Butterfield from Leeds born abt 1912
« on: Monday 07 January 19 18:03 GMT (UK) »
I am wondering if anybody is related to a Lily or Lilian Butterfield born around 1912 who was from Leeds. My great granddad was engaged to her for quite a while in the late '20s-mid '30s. I remember my great grandma saying the lady in all the photos were 'Lily Buttercup' and it always stuck in my mind. I have quite a few photos, some are signed things like 'lots of love, Lily'. The story is that they were engaged for ages and he kept putting off the wedding, til one day she got fed up of waiting. It was said that Wilf[red Jackson] then married his first wife on the rebound. Wilf lived in the Beeston area so I assume Lily was from around that area.

It's nothing major but I think it may be nice that any ancestors of hers could have copies on Lily when she was a young lady.

Wilf was born 1912 and married Elizabeth Ann Field in Dec 1938. So they must have split up around early 1938 if the 'rebound' story is true.

Well, there's a Lily Butterfield, born in 1914 who shows up on the 1939 Register in Belvedere Terrace, Leeds, and who then marries a Doultry.

She's a shorthand typist.

And a Lily Daultry died in Enfield in 1998

Added - haven't looked for children of the couple, but couldn't post here anyway as they might very well be alive still.

They appear to have had two daughters, born in Middlesex in 1948 and 1952.

As I can't log on to Ancestry for some reason (website not responding) cannot say if any of this family appear on a public tree.....

Added
No, I can't see a family tree for them.

I've had no luck in contacting any of (potentially) Lily's descendents so far but will keep trying.

As a side note, I was thinking that, in the future, Facebook will likely be used for all things like this. I'm not sure that's always going to bring good results.
