Catherine Dowling of Wicklow
« on: Tuesday 08 January 19 05:09 GMT (UK) »
Looking for anything on Catherine Dowling born 1798 in County Wicklow and transported to Australia 1827 together with a James Hennessy for stealing a cow. They were farm servants when arrested. Catherine never fully gave up her maiden name and in early documents is referred to as Dowling or Hennessy although she is recorded as being his wife in New South Wales State Records 1832-69.

Are you looking for information prior to her transportation, or after she arrived in Australia? Interesting info and account of the voyage here:

I notice it says Catherine DOWLING had a child with her.

Catherine had a daughter Margaret Hennessy born 1826 with her. She left 4 deceased children behind. I know a lot about Catherine once she arrived in Australia but am looking for anything before her transportation.
