Occupation in 1881 census,Hucknall Torkard.

Riley Wm--his daughter Eliza.
Her occupation seems to read--Basonet ?,maker,the third word in brackets I cannot make out at all.
Could the first word really be Bassinet,a baby's cradle or crib? Must admit I hadn't heard of this word before,before Googling.
Apologies but my computer skills are limited,could have "cut & pasted" I think !
Would be interested to know what this occupation really is.

The word in brackets looks like Dress - compare with Dressmaker in the household above.

I don't know if that would suggest an alternative meaning for 'Basonet', though.

Totally agree word in brackets is "Dress".
Probably puts paid to my idea of Bassinet though !

I believe bassinets were often made of wicker, so maybe she was making trimmings for them? Or babies' outfits that matched the bassinets?

Maybe a glance through local newspapers of the time would produce some adverts for the kind of thing that was available then.

I think the word in brackets is wors, as in worsted the fabric and the 1871 has Rebecca as winder (wool)

Many thanks for your replies.
In 1881 a firm advertised regularly in the Nottingham Evening Post offering the cheapest perambulators,bassinets and invalid carriages.
Pictures on Google show some very fancy Victorian bassinets with very elaborate material external coverings and canopies etc.
I think Rebeccas occupation is a Bassinet Maker ( Dress),dresser doing the material finishings.
