so how would i go about finding out for certain which one it is? and thanks for the marriage, but i already knew that i just need to get further back and see if he had siblings if anyone can help

The Northants Marriage Index does not show the marriages of Wright or James/Elizabeth under the spelling Fitzjohn, however this looks like Wright ...

... and another variant from Ancestry ...

James Fidgen = Elizabeth Wright  1766 Mar 31 Liddington, Rutland

These appear to be children of Wright on the Northants Baptism Index ...

Nothing more from a quick glance at Ancestry and FamilySearch.

Did they move to a neighbouring county ?

their son , also , james was born in kingscliffe but died in Stamford, and most of  his kids were born in kingscliffe but they did go to Stamford and at least the last child was born there . don't know anything else on james and mary though.
