Have you tried contacting the cemetery?

You'd need to give them his full name, date of death, and any other information you know, I'd imagine.

Try contacting Medway Council - although they seem to be reluctant to advertise anything other than their address in Chatham.

This may, or may not, be of help  :-\

The advice above is very useful, but I recently visited a local cemetery and I had the details with me, and was unable to find the specific grave. I got talking to some of the people working in the cemetery and one of them went and got some absolutely incredible old animal skin sheets dating from the 1880s and laid them out on the ground which made me cringe a little bit and we found that they were much more help than the council website. I'm sure that wouldn't work everywhere but it is certainly something to consider.

Hi Bambi

Please try contacting the council again.

I know of a good couple of reasons they may not have returned your call:

The dept may be busy dealing with recently bereaved families or funeral directors trying to arrange funerals.

Their registers may be stored off-site and they are waiting for them to arrive back at the office or for someone to go to where they are stored.

Sadly for us, family historians are placed down the priority list, but I'm sure if you contact them again after the weekend, they will be able to help.

Thank you for pointing that out ,I didnt even think of that and my needs are no where near as important as those who have recently lost someone . :-[

Bambi , :)
I am sure if you email Medway Council requesting plot number and grid plan for locating plots .
Give them full details. ie. Name .Age at death, approx burial date ,and most importantly "which cemetery " someone will eventually come back to you with the answer.
I have had success with Canterbury and Swale councils with like requests so there's no reason why Medway Council wont respond.
                                     Good Luck Roger.
