charles Walker Scott

I am doing research into the Scott Family who were instrumental in establishing the Tweed Industry in Dumfries. I am having some difficulty in establishing the position regarding Charles Walker Scott. I know that he was born in Manchester about 1845 and married Mary Lorimer in Dumfries in1869. He lived at Woodbank on the Edinburgh Road Dumfries and appears on the 1871 census at that address. However he does not appear to be on the 1881 or 1891 census. He is recorded as withdrawing from the partnership of Walter Scott and Sons on the 12th June 1895 and he died in Australia on the 27th September 1898 .If anyone can shed any light on the missing period from 1871 -1895 it  would be greatly appreciated

One public tree I've found has him on the London Electoral Register in 1888 in a tenement at 25 Golden Square, St James. The 1891 Scotland Census has him living with his wife, Mary J, and others at Bambarrock House, Kirkinner in Wigtownshire.

My great grandmother Margaret Elizabeth Jardine and my great grandfather Donald McLean Milligan worked at Barnbarrock House, Kirkinner, Wigtownshire in 1891 . They married on October 23 1891, Dumfries. They both worked for Mr. Scott.

This is most interesting.. Have you any idea when the Scotts lived at Barnbarroch and for how long? Charles lived at Woodbank Dumfries lateron before becoming bankrupt and being exiled to Australia where he died on 1898.

Sorry I don’t. My great grandparents probably left his employ before their first child was born in Dumfries in 1892
