I wonder whether any helpful person has access to the baptism records for Woodborough. I am looking for a baptism for Thomas Pinchin to see which family he came from. The various census give his date of birth as 1803. I have other details for Thomas, except his marriage, his daughter Elizabeth Jane married William Sellwood, bbs of my 3 x Great Grandmother.

A quick look on FindMyPast shows several Pinchin baptisms in Woodborough to either an Ann or a Richard & Rose around that time but no Thomas.

Haven't checked this out any further but there is this baptism:

Thomas Pinchen 13 Jan 1814 Woodborough Wiltshire to Edward Davies Pinchen & Hannah

May be a possibility as I note his age was changing enough during the censuses to suggest a birth year of c. 1810 plus he may not have been baptised immediately on birth but some time later.

On the 1841 his birth year is 1802-1806 and 1851/1871 1804, 1881 1803.

Not on transcription I was looking at.

Anyway, the principle of late baptism still applies.

I feel you are being somewhat pedantic here.

a) I quite clearly said I hadn't checked it out
b) I said I was looking at a transcription  and
c) are you denying the possibility of a late baptism and thus offering no hope to the OP.

I have a baptism of one of my direct ancestors as an 18 year old, without which I would have been unable to go any further back.
