Finding Property Deeds in High Harrogate
« on: Friday 11 January 19 21:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am a first time user so hope I am posting correctly.
I need advise re an elusive ancestor. James Hardisty 1797-1869. I know he was in possession of copyhold houses and property- unspecified in High  Harrogate in 1822. Is there any way of tracing who owned the copyhold houses before him so I can provide a proper link to the Hardistys in the Knareborough/Harrogate/Fewston area.
Thanks

West Yorkshire had a Registry of Deeds from 1704, indexed under the names of the main parties as well as the address.
