Does anyone recognise this uniform please

Would appreciate some guidance as to what uniform this is. Many thanks.

I suspect identifying the regiment may be difficult.  The collar dogs look like grenades - but several regiments had these (most likely a Fusiliers regiment).

Right upper arm: Lance Corporal stripe.

Left lower arm (top to bottom): (1) - I don't recognise this badge, (2) marksman badge, (3) one service/conduct stripe - suggesting a professional soldier rather than a wartime volunteer or conscript.

If you have a potential name for this man it may be possible to do a process of elimination to find out more, but until the real experts come along this is the best I can do.

Many thanks Philip.  I don't have a name, hoping the regiment might have helped identify him!

I notice that he has a pleat in the top pocket. I thought they didn't have them in WW1 to cut costs? Or am I dreaming that?!

I know it's a black and white photo but doesn't come across as khaki coloured?

The badge might be that of a "Lewis Gunner" .

The economy tunics were introduced part way through the war, but soldiers who already had the earlier model tunics kept on wearing them - so it isn't possible to date the photo accurately (except to say that the lack of medal ribbons suggests that it is before 1919).

The light/dark balance on black and white photos is difficult to judge, so I wouldn't rule out khaki.

I am no expert but it looks like the dress uniform of a regular soldier to me, rather than service dress, being a sepia photo the colour is indeterminate.

The collar dogs are not Artillery or RE, I would agree they are Fusiliers, but which,  they are not clear enough to tell.

In khaki service dress there would be a lance corporalís stripe on both sleeves.
