Have you contacted the British Consulate in France in case they have any records?

Was he on holiday or was he living in France?

Was he married?

Did he have any children?

Most countries impose a time limit on BMD records.
For deaths it's usually 50 years.

Not sure what the limit is in France, but I suspect you won't find anything re a death so recent ::)

Hello,
there is no delay in France for a death certificate (called acte de décès) but you will have to ask for a copy at the mairie of the place where the person died, so you have to know where he died and when .

If the death was registered with the British Consulate then you may find it on Findmypast, they certainly have  death indices 1966-1994.

Great idea, hadn't thought of that.
Thanks.

I haven't contacted the Consulate but I'll look into it. Unfortunately I don't know the answers to any of those questions.

Thanks for the info. I know he died in Paris but that's all the info I have other than the date.
