If the death was registered with the British Consulate then you may find it on Findmypast, they certainly have  death indices 1966-1994.

I found his date of death through that source. That's so far, the only information I have.
Isle of Arran/Ayrshire - Reid, Dick, McConnell, Purden/Purdie, Allison, McKirdy/McCurdie, Tennant, Hamilton, Bowles
Renfreshire -Port Glasgow - Purdie/Purden, McKirdy/McCurdie/McReady
Eastwood Parish/Pollokshaws area, Glasgow - Campbell, Dick, McLachlan/McLauchlan/McLoughlin/McLaughlan, Edgar, McFarlane, Norris, Gray,
Linlithgow/New Kilpatrick/Milngavie - Dick, Edgar
Edinburgh/Leith/Milngavie/Stirling - John Reid
Belfast/County Derry/Magherafelt - Murray, McCormick, McCormack

Hello,
there is no delay in France for a death certificate (called acte de décès) but you will have to ask for a copy at the mairie of the place where the person died, so you have to know where he died and when .

Thanks for the info. I know he died in Paris but that's all the info I have other than the date.
So you have to contact the British Embassy in order to know in which arrondissement this relative died , then contact the town hall of the arrondissement .Let us know when you have the info concerning the arrondissement .
