William Jeffress b1814 Newcastle
« on: Monday 14 January 19 21:26 GMT (UK) »
It’s a while since I looked at this branch of my tree, and now I remember why!  Other than their baptisms I can’t trace any of my 3xG Grandfather’s seven siblings except William, who briefly appears & then vanishes again.   Here’s what I know:

Baptised at St Nicholas, Newcastle 21 Nov 1814 – William s/o Richard & Amelia Jeffress, Close, Glass Maker (NB Amelia is actually Wilhelmina, otherwise known as Milney)

1841 – Hanover Street, Close, St Nicholas, Newcastle
Richard Jeffries 30 Glass Maker Journeyman (my direct line)
Mary Ann 25
William 25 Glass Maker Journeyman
Sarah 12
Richard 6
Mary Ann 4
Andrew 1

Richard Sr is in the Newcastle workhouse, aged 60.

1861 – Birch Street, Heap, Heywood, Lancashire - RG9/2843/37/18
William Jeffrys 46 Lodger Married Glass Blower born Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland
Ann Jeffrys 43 Lodger Married born Hilton, Yorkshire

Any further sightings greatly appreciated, although I suspect this entire branch will end up back in the 'too hard' folder  :-X
GIBSON: Leicestershire, Durham. North Yorkshire. MORGAN: Glamorgan, Durham, Ohio. DAVIS/DAVIES/DAVID: Glamorgan, Ohio.  JACKSON: East Yorks, North Yorks, Durham. TAYLOR: North Yorks. I'm still tidying up my earlier research - the GRO index has been a godsend  :) - but yes, I think there were three sons named Andrew, one born & died 1839, the second 1840-1842, and the last born in 1844 (mmn Knox).

The surname in my direct line is recorded in various mangled ways, with some eventually morphing into Jefferson.  All adds to the fun ::)  :-X

The 1851 for Richard & Mary Ann is my direct line, but it's his brother William I'm trying to find.

Sorry I misunderstood :-[  I thought it was siblings sightings not further sightings of William.  Back to the drawing board!

I am at the TWAS - if you think I might be able to help in anyway with a marriage look up, Jomot I am going to be here for a little longer but will have to leave shortly.

Here is marriage locator link if this might be of any help and if you could let me know any particular spelling of the surname in the record it might help.

Thankfully Richard b 1811 (my direct line) hasn't been too difficult, but finding any of his siblings has so far proved impossible, other than the brief appearances of the elusive William   >:(

RTL, thank you for your very kind offer but at the moment I have so little information on this family I think I'd have to pay for your board & lodge at TWAS to have any hope of finding anything  ;D
