Lily Willetts b.1930 Royston, Barnsley

I'm looking for the parents of Lily Willetts b.1930. She had a sister called Irene b.1928 also in Royston, Barnsley. GRO gives the mother's maiden name of both girls as Baker. I can't find a marriage between a Willetts and a Baker, nor find either child on the 1939 Register. Can anyone help please?

Is it possible she is still living and that is why you can't see her or her sister in 1939  :-\

I don't think so. I believe she died 17.10.2015. She was married to Harry (aka Barry) Hammond.

Joseph Willetts married Asenath E(lizabeth) Baker 1926  Sudbury Suffolk.
Asenath died in Wakefield Yorkshire 1970.
Could be them.

Thanks, Simon. I did find this couple but it seems a long way from Barnsley! Not ruling them out though.

Hi again Tessa,

It looks like Joseph and Asenath are probably the parents. The Electoral register for Hemsworth Yorkshire 1950 (on Ancestry) shows Joseph, Asenath and Irene Willetts together.

The address in the electoral Register is 137 Parkview, Royston.
If they were at the same address in 1939 then unfortunately on Ancestry the whole page with that address on, bar the last name (43 out of 44 entries), has been redacted (erroneously it looks like). Even worse on Findmypast the page is completely missing.
Just for completeness there is a baptism for Asenath Elizabeth Baker in Royston in October 1903.
