minsteracres

Hi

does anyone know whether these baptisms are available to view anywhere. I am hoping there is more information in the records than the bare baptism info available on family search..  I am particularly interested in the Milburn family whose children were baptised 1808 to 1825 approx.

Can't see anything online but Genuki says the records are held at Woodhorn:

Hopefully someone may be able to do a look-up for you

They are available on FindMyPast. Christian names are indexed in their 'Latinised' forms as in the original registers, which you can also view.

They show up as being at Bywell St Peter on the results page.

They are particularly useful as many of them record the maiden surname of the mother and also the names of god parents.

I've now LOOKED ON FindMyPast BUT ONLY ABOUT HALF OF THE ENTRIES that I know about are there. Those before 1812 and those after 1820 are absent.  Thanks for the advice, I can see that some of the entries do have images so I will have to get some credits to view them.  I just don't know if they do have additional information to make it worth while.

Now that JenB has said they come under Bywell, ( I learn something new every day!) I looked on Family Search

https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/82225?availability=Family%20History%20Library
They are searchable but the transcriptions on Family Search usually only give the bare bones info.

IF you can get to an LDS FHC the images can be seen on their pcs, but not online from home unless you are a church member.

I checked one on FindMyPast, the handwritten records are in latin, they give the date the child was born and the date of baptism. Names of Parents (including mother's maiden name) and the names of godparents

That's strange, because the records available on FindMyPast start well before 1812  :-\

Does a family have to be roman catholic to have children baptised there or was it just convenient? The parents were married in Bywell St Peter. The children who subsequently married did so in church of England and most later baptisms were C of E.

Thanks for your replies.  I did try and view the original records on family search when they were available.  I wish I knew why they are hidden now as they were very useful. but I don't remember Minsteeracres being available.  I did work my way through Bywell, and I do have a fiche of Bywell transcriptions as well.

There are 3 "Milburn" baptisms 1808, 1810 and 1811 at Bywell St Peter. However, they are variations of "Milburn" ie. Milbourn, Millbourn and Milbourne.
