GRO has no death certificate for an 1895 death
« on: Wednesday 16 January 19 15:22 GMT (UK) »
I want to order a copy of the death cert for this lady, but she isn't in the GRO list.

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?cite=WVenXYX9G5B9ChPn%2BVNPsw&scan=1

Could someone explain why she might be missing?  Her husband died in the same area two years later and I was able to get his:

LAIRD, JAMES       77     Order
GRO Reference: 1897  S Quarter in BRENTFORD  Volume 03A  Page 79

I've tried various mis-spellings etc.  She was wrongly listed as 'Rebecca Laird' on the 1891 census.

Try Barbara LAVID on GRO - March quarter 1895 - Brentford - 03A page 77
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

JenB, BumbleB, how did you find that so quickly, in detail, please?  My Alice gets sick of people spelling it as 'LARD', all her life, I tried that, and LERD and LAIKD etc.

I just searched Laird, with phonetically similar variations, registration district Brentford, 1895. Came up straight away.

Haha, I'd never noticed that option.  After a career managing data...  Why can't they put it in BIG LETTERS for idiots?

Thank you both, and HELLmark!
