Thanks hallmark, I know Arthur and Ann emigrated to Scotland, but parents Arthur O'Donnell and wife? And Edward and Anne slavin remained in Ireland and must have died after 1871 so I asumme somewhere their deaths would be certified, is that correct or would records have been lost?

Thanks

Well he's not a Widower....  Death results for Slavin of Donegal from 1900 to 1910 doesn't show a death for a possible wife

Are you perhaps making it more difficult than it should be?

Possible death- Annie Slevin of Ardnagasson in 1905- farmer's widow, informant son John- LINK
1901 census Anne & family in Ardnagasson- LINK
Children John & Susan in 1911- LINK
Susan died 1921- LINK

A John died 1919 with sister Susan as informant but different townland-
