Whitehouse - West Bromwich
« on: Thursday 17 January 19 10:50 GMT (UK) »
Help please.  I am looking for

Marriage of Joseph Whitehouse bpt circa 1806 Tipton and Maria bpt circa 1809 W Bromwich say 1825 to 1836.  (Think I have read that the WB registers aren't online?)

1841 census entry for Joseph and Maria and family

Bpt entries of sons Samuel age 15 in 1851 born WB, Josiah age 11 in 1851 born WB, Thomas age 7 in 1851 born Cosley.  In 1851 living at High St, Tipton.

Bpt of any other children between marriage and bpt of Samuel.

I think Joseph died J/F/M 1888 WB aged 83.  When/where did Maria die?

And last, but not least the 1881 census entry.

Any help on any of this would be really appreciated, thank you.

I realise the marriage may not be appropriate but I cannot find the 1851 census, so it brings to question the birth of Samuel & Josiah but I am unable to find their baptisms?

I did find the 1861 census High St Tipton, Joseph 55, Maria 49, Thomas 17, William 14, Sarah 11 & a Lodger John transcribed Mundall but it has been crossed out I think it is Morrell, he is 27 born West Brom, maybe a relative of Maria?

I did find the 1881 census 53 High St Tipton Joseph Whitehouse 75 Widower

By the way there are Staffordshire records on freereg.

There is an 1851 census for a Joseph and Maria, Dudley Rd, Tipton.

Joseph, 46, Boat loader, born Tipton.
Maria, 45, born Solihull Warwickshire.
Abel, 4, born Tipton.
Henry, 2, born tipton.

Seems this Joseph may be the son of Abel.  There are a few Joseph’s about in the Whitehouse family.

Mine are from Rowley Regis.

This is quite an enigma I must say.

Christening, West Bromwich;
JOHN Murrall 23 February 1834********
EMMA Murrell 10 December 1837, death 10 Sept 1839
AMELIA Murrall 14 June 1840
Parents WILLIAM/MARIA

Although the 1842 Marriage has Joseph as a Bachelor I dint think he was or he was having children with a Sarah;

1841 Census
Joseph Whitehouse 50, Miner (image is 30**)
Sarah Whitehouse 29
Ann Whitehouse   15
Betsey Whitehouse 8
Daniel Whitehouse 5  (could this be SAMUEL?)
Josiah Whitehouse 1****

WHITEHOUSE, JOSIAH, Mothers mn HARRISS***
GRO Reference: 1839  S Quarter in WEST BROMWICH  Volume 18  Page 529

SAMUEL W Bapt 21 Aug 1836 All Saints to JOSEPH/SARAH
Father a Miner
+
JOSIAH W 08 Sep 1839 same details
Cant find Betsey, could be Eliza/Elizabeth or similar

Marriage;
Sarah HARRIS
Joseph WHITEHOUSE 02 May 1830 Kingswinford

Just checked and Josiahs Bapt has abode as Riddacre Coppice, same address as 1841 Census

Cant find a conclusive burial for Sarah though in that tight time frame.

Goodness ColC, bitzar and Trish, this info is amazing!!  What terrific teamwork.  I did have a sneaky feeling that Joe and Maria might be a second marriage.  I shall enjoy playing with this and trying to put it all together.

Thank you all so very much.
