Marriage Ashley/Burdett 1916

I’m looking for the following marriage to see who father of the groom is please.

Marriage took place in 1916 Leicester
Frank Ashley
Jane Burdett

Have you looked for him on the 1939 register to establish his birthdate?

Use GRO online to get his mothers maiden name then freebmd for parents marriage.  1881 census is free on Family Search

Hi.

Frank Ashley was born on 13th July 1888 in Kettering, Northamptonshire to Thomas Stimpson Ashley and Julia James.
Julia died when he was born and it appears from the 1891 & 1901 census that he was living with his grandparents.

I then can’t find Frank.

Thomas Stimpson Ashley remarried and had a further 10 children.
My great grandmother was one of them.

In a newspaper article from 1926 he attended his dads funeral. It mentions his wife Jennie and children.

Yes I know I can buy the marriage from 1916 just wondered if anyone had assess to them to save me money and time!
Reason I want to see the marriage is to confirm is this is the right Frank or not.

Marriage was registered in Sept qtr 1916 in Leicester. 7a 333

Using freebmd Ashley births with mmn Burdett then the 1939 register - Frank Ashley in Leics was not born on 13.7.1888

However - if he died 1957 Leics - birthyear is shown as approx 1889 so possibly his birthyear on the the 1939 entry is incorrect

Thanks. Yes the 1939 register is a different birth. But only the year of birth.

The 1939 Register might be incorrect. Everything matches except for the year, which is 10 years out. The only death record in Leicester is Q2 1957 age 68 - i.e. born 1888-89.

Jane's age also seems to be 10 years out. She was probably the daughter of John and Elizabeth Burdett nee Arnold, born in 1892. Her death in Q2 1944 also gives 1892 as the birth year, as do the censuses. Jane was in Aylestone in 1911 - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X756-PHP
