William Brindley b. 1895 Newbury, Berkshire
« on: Friday 18 January 19 07:13 GMT (UK) »
Wonder if anyone could assist me please.  We are looking for William Brindley born in 1895, we believe to Charlotte Brindley.  Do not know who the Father may have been.   In 1901 census, he is shown as being aged 6, living at the Newbury Union Workhouse, with a mix of different aged people residing therein.

We are trying to find his whereabouts after this, could not find him in 1911 census, we think his mother Charlotte died in 1902.

We feel that maybe he later migrated to Australia, but cannot find any further information, unless of course he changed his name.

I think mother may have been married:

BRINDLEY, WILLIAM mmn RICHMOND
GRO Reference: 1895  M Quarter in NEWBURY  Volume 02C  Page 253

The only birth without a mmn is in CHEADLE, in 1896.

Why do you think his mother is a Charlotte?

Hello Jan,
Two Richmond sisters (my great, great aunts) married two Brindley brothers -
Hannah Maria married Joseph in 1875, and Mary Ann married Daniel in 1880.

I must admit I don't have William Brindley (born 1895) recorded in my tree, but I have not checked through the online GRO Index.

It's curious that he is in the workhouse in 1901.

I was also going to ask where you get Charlotte from, but I see Jamjar asked as I was typing.

This might be a case of ordering the birth certificate.

best wishes, Steve

Is this the 1902 death you refer to: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JC2D-Z4W

If so, I think she is with her folks in 1901: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XS32-3W2

Hi Steve.
We are probably grasping at straws.   Just quickly, without doing more research late at night, are your Richmond sisters who married Brindleys, from Newbury, Berkshire.

We live in Australia, and are trying to sort out family connections with DNA matches.

There are so many Brindleys that lived in Newbury, and re Charlotte being the Mother, this could be totally incorrect.
