Coroner's Reports
« on: Saturday 19 January 19 05:05 GMT (UK) »
One of my wife's ancestors (a William HINE) was buried at St Mary's in Mortlake in 1860. A notation in the burial entry states that it was "By Coroner's Warrant". I would be very interested to find out the story behind that. Does anyone know if the Coroner's records for that period still exist please?

His death certificate will give cause of death, perhaps an accident that may be in the local papers.

It would not have been by natural causes otherwise no need to involve a coroner

It could have been natural causes, if the death was sudden but unexplained it would have been automatically referred to the Coroner, who may or may not have required a post-mortem.

Thankyou very much to those people who responded to my request. I think the best thing is for me to first order a death certificate and take it from there. Thanks again. John T.
