What date do you think is written on the 1939 for Alma  and Peter ?  1940 or 1949 ?

I was just puzzling over that one and I am favouring 1949.  The code DEF before the date is the  District code used on the 1939 for Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

Yes, I would go with 1949 - wonder what the significance of those hyphenated surnames are - the "H" part is slightly different ?

Parents of Peter Charles Dickens - Charles Henry Dickens
born 7 December 1872 - Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, Wales passed away 18 May 1952 - St. Brides, 5 Burgh Road, Aylsham, Norfolk.

Mother - May Agnes Thomsett
born 12 May 1876 - Curragh Bridge, Limerick, Ireland passed away 28 March 1920 - Steyning, Sussex.

Source - Anc Tree with photographs of them. Don't see any links to the "H" hyphenated surname though.

Tree indicates they had a son  ???

There is a marriage in June 1954 for a Peter C Dickens - to a Smeed -  Middlesex S. - 5f   141
but that would take us away from the White family line.
