Mrs Hatt and child postcard Date please
« on: Saturday 19 January 19 12:51 GMT (UK) »
I found this post card in my parents photo collection. I know of no ancestors by the name of Hatt but there were many others in the area so Mrs Hatt may have been a friend.
8 Ceasar Street, Union street, Hackney road I have searched for a connection to Hatt's but no luck so far. The address seemed odd, but I have found similar in the area. Ceasar street is not in the 1901 census only found it in 1911 and 1891.
The lady in the picture looks so sad and in mourning, I would like to trace her in case there is a family connection so a date range would be a great help.

Hi Pete, This looks to be Edwardian, the divided back postcard was introduced in the U.K. In 1902. The little boy looks to be about 4 years old. Have you looked at Hatt Family Trees on Ancestry? There may be photos on there. If you type in the surname and location, then go onto "Pictures" in the left hand menus you may get lucky.

Wonderful image.

Is that a photo of Mrs Hatt or is the card addressed to Mrs Hatt with the name and address written on the wrong half of the postcard? (and the photo being of someone else)?

Great photo, with their expressions pure gold. I couldn't resist giving it a clean. :)

The family of stonemason Denis Bulman (b. Ireland c.1839) was at 8 Caesar Street in 1901 (Shoreditch ED 11: RG 13/269 f121v p12 s86). I've asked Findmypast to correct "Coesar".

It does seem an odd address, with three street names.  :) I found Union Street which runs off Hackney Road, but Caesar St did not appear to be in the vicinity (or was not named) on the maps I looked at. Further investigation may find it.

It does look odd but I have found similar from the same time and area
