When was Sharpshooter renamed Northampton, and where have you looked?

Hi
HMS Sharpshooter is mentioned in Lloyds Lists in 1909, there are mentions in the newspapers (Lloyds Lists)
Not sure quite what they mean but for example

12th Oct 1909 Lloyds Lists
Shipping Movemnets
Coasting Trade
Oct 11th HMS Sharpshooter, Portsmouth.
Lloyds List 18 Oct 1909
Lizard Oct 18th passed east
HMS Sharpshooter (accompanying a submarine)

Findmypast has these reports in newspapers and possibly available elsewhere.

I guess you want to find out where the ships went in that time period, I m not sure Lloyds lists will help much with that but there are a few mentions of the ships in the papers.
Hopefully someone else might be able to help more.
Cathy :)

Re. checking newspapers -

I checked newspapers (always a good bet for checking ships' whereabouts) under the search key " H.M.S Sharpshooter" and was puzzled to note there were no "hits" for the period 1911-1912 (10 hits for 1910). So changed the search key to "Sharpshooter" only and limited newspaper to "The Army and Navy Gazette" - returned plenty of hits.
