Old Cemetery Rothesay
« on: Sunday 20 January 19 23:20 GMT (UK) »

Could any one advise me which cemetery in Rothesay would be referred to as 'The Old Cemetery".

I am looking for the gravestone of James Lyon and his wife Annie McDonald.

Not much help but found these;

"A small modem cemetery is located beyond the south side of the old graveyard"

Not sure whether this is it;

You may be able to compare with a modern map for where the 'small modern cemetery' is located which seems to be Barone Road & 'Barone' area appears to be to the left (of the yellow balloon) on the above map.

Thank you for your reply Annie.

I see you have interests in Waker/McDonald in South Uist.

The family I am researching involved an Alexandrina Walker who married a Peter McDonald in Boisdale.

As it happens, I've been researching one of mine (a Uist MacDonald) in Rothesay last 2 days which I have to follow up!

To the best of my knowledge it was the daughter of the couple below,Annie McDonald, who married James Lyon in Rothesay in 1899.

"Alexandrina Walker married Peter McDonald Boisdale in 1872"

Which church did they marry in & who were their parents?

Sorry, it was the parents of Alexandrina Walker & Peter McDonald I was asking to see if I could find a link with any of mine?

I have those surnames as direct lines but I also have side shoots with those surnames.

Annie

Add, Are you looking to trace those families/other descendants?
