Mary Ann Mitchison nee Kelly death

I am having a bit of a problem confirming Mary Ann's death mainly due to lack of census data. Mary Ann was born abt 1866 and married Steven/Stephen Carlton Mitchison 1886. In 1891 Stephen and family were living in Linthorpe. Stephen and Mary Ann do not show up on any subsequent census. Their son Martin is in Colehill, Warwickshire in 1901 at what appears to be a boys home. Daughter Charlotte can not be found 1901/11. Stephen dies 1939 Middlesbrough.
The most obvious death for Mary Ann is 1896 Middlesbrough which shows her as Mary dying at the Union Workhouse and being the wife of Stephen Mitchison-general labourer. Informant was not Stephen. The problem I have is that in 1891 Stephen is shown as a fish hawker and on son Martin's marriage cert in 1906 he is shown as a fish monger.

Steven pops up again  - in 1939 when he dies (well seems to fit!)

As for occupation - he's a general labourer in 1881

Martin's brother Edward b 1892 is in the same home. There's also another sister Sarah Isabel b Q1 1896. I can't find what happened to her either - maybe the girls are somewhere indexed by initials?

a couple of trees n Ancestry have Charlotte as marrying Thomas Oxendale in 1920. It's the right area, but 1939 census gives her dob as 1896 so I have my doubts

I wonder if Martin never saw his father after he went to Colehill and remembered him as a fish monger and that is what he stated for his marriage cert? Possibly the family broke apart if Mary Ann/Mary did die in 1896.

Why is this a problem?

Fish hawker and fish monger are the same thing, no? Someone who sells fish.

I agree but Mary death cert gives occupation as general labourer. So is my Mary the correct person?

The death does fit and it follows after the birth of last known child.

Would not the marraige and death give her father’s name?
