william Belcher bapt 1816 or 1823 ca - West Hanney

Hi all,

I'm back trying to sort out my many "Belcher" entries and would like some help please.

I have a William Belcher born about 1816 West Hanney with possible parents of William & Mary Ann (nee Giles) and am not sure when he was baptised or if he married and if so to who.

There doesn't seem to be many records of baptism & marriages for West Hanney available on-line between 1800s and 1837 so can't prove his place of bapt. or parents.

On the other hand I have censuses with  a William Belcher born about 1823 West Hanney , with a wife Ann , born Botley, Berks ( censuses 1851-61 as her place of birth)  and (East Challow when married to her 2nd husband Henry Alder), but her  birth years do vary between 1813 - 1827.

Is anyone able to offer some help in determining the who is the correct William Belcher please?

Well, if you don't have a baptism for him, just where did you get his name and birthyear(s) from?

The one wed to Ann (from Botley). you can search out the marriage.
The certificate will give witness names , and maybe a father if the name was provided at the time.
