Mary Hillyer or maybe Hillier
« on: Wednesday 23 January 19 16:47 GMT (UK) »
returning to my family tree after many years, and was hoping now more records available I could trace my mary.

Was just about to order PDF cert but not available for marriage.

This is what i know:
Henry Hicks b 1842 - 1916
Married Mary Hillyer 1862 Taunton, Somerset.

She only had one child and died, but can only guess it is a 1866 record I have found a burial 20 May 1866 in Pitminster, I can't find her birth record at all, or on a census.  Have found a 1851 one - but not sitting quite right with my 'thinking'.

Henry James Hicks is her child and I do have his birth certificate.

I know that sometimes people on here are amazing in finding badly transcribed records.  This generation are from all around Pitminster and Trull.

I guess she could be older than Henry and born before 1837.

Any advice would be great.  I will have to order marriage certificate, and then can at least get her age

Thank you,

I have the certificate for Henry James,

I hadn't found another son, and must mean that she died after 1867, and the 1866 record must refer to another Mary

Possibly Mary in 1861 Taunton
RG9/1618 f32 p9
Mary Helyer age 29 unmarried servant born Taunton
Possible sister Jane age 35 in same household

Could this be the Jane who young Henry is with in 1871

It would make sense for her to be older hence not being able to find birth.

Thank you - good spot.

Maybe it is - Henry went onto to marry a Jane Turner, but not this one, I will get back onto looking at Turners.
