Thanks to all who read, and those that replied.
It appears, after further investigation, that Meiklejohn, as a middle name, is not that uncommon.
Does anyone know of its origin?
Was it a 'family' name passed on from marriage?

Apparently John had 2 sisters, Jessie and Sadie.
Their mother was Jean.
Any help in finding family?

Have you looked for them in the births index at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk? Sadie should be easy enough to find.

Their mother was Jean.

The names Jean and Jane are totally interchangeable. So the marriage to Jane Anderson is probably the one you want.

The marriage I suggested will help you move back to find whether the name was passed down through the line & whether the maternal or paternal side.

The name Meiklejohn is quite common in Scotland.
In some families the grandmothers surname is used as a middle name on one or more of the grandchildren. Also a surname can continue down through the years as a middle name. I have more than one instance in my tree.

This seems a likely chain of events but you will need to check the records.

In 1901 there is a John M Walker age 48 living in Larbert, his wife is Annie Bowman.

His birth on SP.
WALKER   JOHN    WILLIAM WALKER/ANN MEIKLEJOHN    24/11/1852   Larbert

John & Annie had a son John M Walker he was 22 in 1901. Stat Reg. below.

John senior died.

Mel C, you need to go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, register and buy a few credits. Use 6 of them to download the marriage certificate of John Meiklejohn Walker and Jane Anderson in 1927. This will tell you the full names of both sets of parents including the mothers' maiden surnames, and then you can progress back a generation and look for their marriage certificates and parents' names. Without getting this easily obtainable information you risk climbing the wrong tree

Jessie Roy Walker is correct as she is found in Stafford later.
Dubious about WALKER   SADIE FRASER   1940   Logie (Stirling)
and found her death [seems unmarried]

wondering why move back to Scotland, if in Stafford, when rest of family stay in England?
Might need to spend money to find details [tight Englishman!!!] and climb correct tree.
