So he was 15 when Tim was born?

Thank you everybody for your contributions.

The Timothy McGill who married Anne Bridget Kavanagh is my great grandfather.
The Timothy McGill who married Catherine Mulvey is my great uncle.

I have yet to find evidence for the relationship between Christopher McGill and Timothy McGill.
Denis McGill is listed on Timothy's marriage certificate as father.
I have DNA match evidence that the descendants of Christopher McGill are my cousins.
I have no evidence for who their mother was and if they were full brothers or half brothers.

Thank you aghadowey.
I did not have that record.
That is indeed my great grandfather, Timothy McGill (1848-1918).
I would like to find his grave next time I visit Westmeath.

Think family tree is working out nicely  :)

When Timothy McGill married Anne Kavanagh in 1881 his father's listed as Denis McGill, shoemaker.
Timothy & Anne McGill had 8 children according to 1911 census (I've found all eight).
The youngest daughter Bridget/Brigid was a teach and died unmarried in 1963.

Daniel McGill, shoemaker, married Bridget Bann and had at least 4 children. The 2 surviving sons, Richard & Joseph, didn't marry. Richard died 1943 leaving brother Joseph who died 1946.
When Joseph McGill died in 1946 his death was registered by his first cousin Bridget MGill (Timothy & Anne's daughter)- see above.
Thus, Timothy and Daniel must have been bothers.

From census & death records we know that Daniel McGill had at least 3 other brothers: Denis, Joseph & Bernard.

Now, there's Christopher McGill. Like Timothy, Daniel, Joseph & Bernard, Christopher started out as a shoemaker in Rochfortbridge. Between the births of children in 1875/1876 he became a prison warden, eventually ending up in Belfast.
I'm fairly certain that Christopher is another brother to Timothy McGill.

The above is merely a brief outline but I've pages of notes with sources, etc. done up into a family tree - too much to post here. If you are interested just send me a Personal Message with an email address (we aren't allowed to post information like that on the threads.)
