Decipher London UK place
« on: Monday 28 January 19 22:41 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to make out residence for William Greagg on the Marriage cert. I am assuming it is somewhere in London.
The more I look at it the worse it gets.. Newington is in Southwark so I'm thinking Newington Causeway...
any other thoughts?
Thanks In advance
Peter

Certainly looks like Newington Causeway.

And is she High Street Borough?

And the church St George the Martyr Southwark.

It's here:

If you scroll the map and follow the road to the NE it turns into Borough High Street.

That’s very interesting Newington Causeway runs directly into Borough High Street..  shame there are no street numbers

If the families are still there in the 1881 census you may be able to get an idea of whereabouts on Newington Causeway and Borough High Street the couple lived. Follow the enumerator route looking at the neighbours - you can sometimes get lucky in that they lived beside a pub or notable building which may give you at least an idea of the location.

The Civil Parishes in the area of the marriage in 1880 were mainly in the Southwark
Surrey/London areas.  Free BMD.
