Bad scan!
« on: Monday 28 January 19 22:55 GMT (UK) »
Inquirying about the last entry on the left.  Johannis Doyle and Julia Griffen.  The scan is unclear, can anyone read any of the entry?  I think it says Johannis' parents were Patrick and Elizabeth and that he was from Baltinglass (which makes sense) but I cant make out anything else.  It would really help to know Julias parents and where they were from as well as any other hints.  OR can someone tell me where I can get a clearer scan?  I emailed St Agathas but  no response.

Thanks for any help, Im stuck!

Are you able to let us know the year (looks like 1860)  and where please in case we can get at it another way.

Also the headings across the top are standard and these would be useful if you have them from a more readable source.

I can see on the Irish genealogy site that the bride's name is Griffin. I 'think' I can see two dots.
The place of residence for John seems to be Baltinglass & for Julia Strand court.

More coming...reading straight from the link on the Irish genealogy site is marginally! easier than reading what may be a scan of a scan.

Is it from Baltinglass Parish
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0691

It's not a scan it's microfilm taken back in the 1950s I think.
At least on the NLI site you can play around with the lighting etc.

Silly me

Witnesses Patk McEvoy and Cathn Boyle patrick  of Baltinglass  or 101 xx lanes*, Catherine from 22 Catherine? Place**

Fathers both look to be Patritum

Father Doran?
4 October for something (banns?)

Mothers Elizabeth and Anna (Anne)

If I knew for certain what responses (presume Latin) were usual under the heading about Denominatione/s? we could work out if they were both RC. The entry seems to be appearing more than the longer ones about half way down

* Or May Lane

Irish Genealogy transcribes it as
Joannes Doyle Baltinglass father Patritii Doyle
Julia Griffen Allens Court father Patritii Griffen
Witnesses Patk McEvoy Catha Doyle.

It's there twice, the second one gives the mothers as Elizabeth and Anna and the priest as F Doran but doesn't attempt the couples address apart from ? Court

I wonder could it be Heron's Court.

I can't see an Allan's Court in the list of placenames
You can see the list here by clicking on each Civil Parish
