It would be interesting to see the back view of this photo, because this doesn't look like the house in the photo. There is a square bay on the one in the photo.

It would indeed but I can't find one! However the house in question still stands, so I've put it on our local FB forum to see if anyone knows.  I've found a few photos, one of them, frustratingly, cuts off at the vital point.
Also, the ivy on the windows looks well established. Not a new house.  Though according to the 1901 census, David Brearly lived very close to this new house.

Further info of it has it as in Manchester Road, Stocksbridge

I think it looks like a conservatory or the like.

Gadget

If you click on the link that Gadget posted and then click on the picture to enlarge there is writing on the photo that says "1894 Mr Beazleys Garden Party Queen Victoria's Jubilee". The Brearley may be a typo and that may be why he can't be found on the census records. Just a thought.  ???

Yes, we discussed this, but there were no Beazleys in the area. I finally heard back from the Stocksbridge History Society and they have no idea why its labelled as Brearley on their site, and they have no further information. Come to a dead end with this  :-\

Still a great picture, Claire, and may give some people design ideas for their projected conservatory........ ;)
