Translation from old German script
« on: Wednesday 30 January 19 16:21 GMT (UK) »
I would be grateful of a translation of this note in old German script. It was a note to my grandparents in 1931. I would like to understand the connection with this person, and possibly attempt to find any descendants who might be able to give me some information. Thank you.

Thank you so much davecapps. At this moment I have no idea why this gentleman would be connected with my grandfather in Warrington.  Some research to do, I think. Thanks again. Cheers, Mike.

I managed to find out that Friedrich Ernst Standt was a Tailor by trade
He was born on the 9.5.1860 in Preusisch Eylau

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagrationovsk

So he was 71 when he contacted your grandfather

He was the son of Gottfried Standt, carpenter, and Justine Schirrmacher.
He married Martha Anna Gertrude Albrecht on the 18.7.1897 in Hamburg.

Children
son, Franz Arthur, born on the 29.4.1898 in Hamburg / died 4.11.1979

daughter, Ida, born on the 28.9.11 in Köln
Ida married on the 29.3.1940 in Köln

Just thinking about the "hand in hand". Was your grandfather a freemason??

Thanks for the information, Dave. Very interesting, But I am still none the wiser to the connection! My grandfather was an engine driver and, to my knowledge, had no connection with free masonry. I think , with the extra knowledge thanks to you, I will do another post with his name and see if it is picked up by any descendants. Cheers, Mike.
