Taylor brothers in NYC? Date (1940s?) & confirmation of location please
« on: Thursday 31 January 19 01:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi to all photo date/location detectives.

Here's one of the pics I wish to put into a family history/photo book. On the reverse is written - "Uncle Fred", and he is my wife's grandfather's brother. Also written in pencil is "M & D, Greene Street NYC". Both Fred & my wife's grandfather Alfred were born 1896 & 1897 respectively.

Is Greene Street the location of where the pic was taken or could it be it where the photographic 'studio' is that took this candid shot?

Many thanks ..... Sel

Thanks, Carol. I thought that might be the case.  Do you think it would it be reasonable to assume therefore, that the shot location was also somewhere in NYC? The home base for the US based Taylor brother  was Sunbury, Pennsylvania so I guess it's also a fair assumption that he would take his visiting brother from Cardiff on a trip to the Big Apple!

Possibly but photographers often travelled with their work too.

You're right. Thanks for the fresh eyes and comment. I think I’ll rest with it being just a good pic, albeit a bit scratchy, of two brothers acting the goat for a picture memory.

Removed a few scratches and cleaned the suits slightly.

Thanks very much, John. I'm grateful that you have taken the time to clean this one up. My talents (?) just don't extend to this level. Makes me envious.
Cheers .... Sel
