Help sort out the Edwards please Edwards
« on: Friday 01 February 19 07:58 GMT (UK) »
A cry of desperation I have too many Edwads can anyone help sort them out please?
I'll take it in small parts to try ro simplify it
Part 1
on the 1891 census for Kilburn Park Rd Paddington I find a family that may be on my tree.
Edward McMullan 36 born Panceas
Mary A  35 Brixham Devon
Edward 6 Paddington

I need to find Mary Ann's maiden name to do this I need to find where and when  thcy marry?
Find registratin of son Edwards birth I have failed to find thrse facts using the Free BMD and GRO Index sites

In 1911 on Willesden I find
Annie McMillan   54 wid Brixham Devon
Edward son    26 Marylebone,

Is this the same family?
What was Edward's occupation?
If so where were they in 1901?
When did Edward Snr die?

Hope some one can help :)
Part 2 to follow...health warning it gets harder!

Edward McMillan - registered December quarter 1884 - Marylebone = mmn Williams

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Working backward with the original Death, Marriage & Birth Certificates your family might have (or the Copy Certificates you have purchased) issued by the Registrar of Births Marriages & Deaths from your known family you (and perhaps your father / Mother) actually physically knew, what do the Certificates of your known family actually say, so that you can find them in the 1911 Census?

The England & Wales Census is almost complete, but not quite.

You shouldn't be looking at trying to link to a Tree, many have such bad errors, that you can get the wrong line.

A line of possible interest, in three out of three Family Trees checked by me in the last month (all submitted to a very well known Family History Site) all have the most awful connection errors!

There is this Edward in 1901 571/158/8

Edward McMillan 16 yrs b Marylebone
He is boarding with a Rosanna Marshall and family and is a ‘Labourer in Arsenal’.

Would he be the right one though?

That is 1901 rather than 1891 but I thought the same.

There should be a marriage for him c1907-8.

The occupations match for Edward Senior in 1891 and 1901 = House Painter.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
