I’m struggling to read a couple of words in the Will of William Harding of Kildale.  Is Exon short for Execution?  What are the words preceding the date?  What do the large letters mean?  They look like Qs…..

I agree that the first word is:  Ex(ecuti)on

I think the words before the date are By Hide, but can't offer even a guess as to their meaning.

The big letters are (in my opinion):  R - R -

Again the meaning isn't clear.

By the way, it is:  ...widow Relict & Sole...

The missing word on the next line should be:  Executrice or Executrix

I can'y make out very much.

It seems to begin with:  In

Then one or two words which are probably contracted.

All I can suggest with the several difficulties of this extract is that - if you are able to without cost - you look at the equivalent probate clauses of a sample of other wills in the same collection from around the same time.

They should give a clue to the format being used.

Many thanks for your assistance again horselydown86.  It probably doesn't really matter in the great scheme of things, but I like to finish projects.  This takes me back to my secretarial days when I was taking notes in shorthand and then later when typing up, would struggle with one outline.
