Service number for service record application UK
« on: Saturday 02 February 19 14:02 GMT (UK) »
I am filling in the request form for my late grandfathers military record (WW2) and it is asking for his service number. I cannot find him on Ancestry or FindMyPast in regards to military records.
Would anyone be kind enough to see if they can find him for me please?
Neville Frank Wood

Thank you

Regardless of what the instructions say, with the information you have, as long as you have his date of birth you donít need his number.

I'll be honest with you, the instructions were contradictory which is why I thought I should try to include as much information as possible; hopefully just the DOB is sufficient ! Thanks

And the reason you can't find him on  line is because he isn't there.  WW2 records are with the MOD and have to be applied for a you are now doing.
