Marriage of James Horseman & Sarah Greene c.1813
« on: Saturday 02 February 19 17:09 GMT (UK) »
James Horseman/ Horsman says he was born in Gt. Braxted in about 1790.  His wife Sarah (nee Greene) says she was born in Navestock in about 1792.  Her maiden name comes from a daughter's Australian death certificate.  They seem to have has a daughter Ann (who could be Horseman or Greene) born c. 1814 in Little Braxted.  Their second? child - Sarah Horseman was born in 1819 in Bedfont.

If anyone is researching these locations, could you keep an eye out for a marriage for James & Sarah,  and for James's baptism and Ann's baptism.  Do let me know if you spot them.  Any sightings would be welcome,  as Hors(e)man was not a common surname in Essex.

Thanks
Sue

The Gt Braxted records are badly damaged and virtually unreadable and haven't been transcribed.
Are you sure about the Bedfont birth as it is about 60 miles from Braxted and while it is now part of London, in 1819 it would habe been a small village.
There is a Mary Ann Greene baptised in Little Braxted 4.03.1810, she was base born so no father's details.

The family were not in Essex in 1841 they were living at Ham Common, Kingston so the Bedfont baptism is probably correct.

The baptism of Mary Ann Greene sounds VERY hopeful,  as whilst she married as Ann - she died as Mary Ann.  Was her mother called Sarah ?  If so, this is a breakthrough on the Greene side.

Brilliant  - maybe a bit of 'leeway' on her age at various times - but it makes sense
