1861 with Elizabeth's birth place:

David Aitkenhead 61 Chelsea Pensioner Farm E I C b. Arbroath
Elizabeth Petrie Aitkenhead 54 b. Kinnell, Forfarshire

Address: Ogilvie Place No 20, Arbroath

With this info, a possible entry for Elizabeth:

Elisabeth Petrie
Christening Date 22 Jun 1806
Christening Place KINNELL, ANGUS
Father's Name David Petrie
Mother's Name Jean Petrie

Jean/Jane was first born for Hugh and Elizabeth so maybe called after her mother.

The 1886 death cert that Forfarian has mentioned will hopefully include Elizabeth's parents' names and let you confirm.

Good stuff, Monica :)

David Aitkenhead 61 Chelsea Pensioner Farm E I C b. Arbroath
Could that be 'Form EIC', i.e. formerly East India Company?

Could well be. I tried searching for him here http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/advanced-search but no joy.

Sorry for the very late responses.  Life intruded and just returned to this branch.

Hope everyone is safe and well.

There is this birth or christening entry showing:

John CAMPBELL
HUGH ROSE CAMPBELL & BARBARA NEISH
07/09/1830
Ref 319/40 134
St Vigeans

It is the only one I can see to these parents.

I have been unable to find a marriage for Barbara Neish and Hugh Rose Campbell or a possible death for Barbara Neish which would seem to be necessary for Hugh Rose to marry Petrie.

It seems his name is rather unique so two people with same name in Saint Vigeans, Angus, Scotland seems unlikely but assume not impossible.

The Aitkenhead marriage looks promising based on

Quote
All the parties coming together for 1841, as transcribed:

David Artkenkend 40 army p(ensioner?)
Elisabeth Artkenkend 30
John Campbell 11 - guessing this is Hugh's son with Barbara Neish?
Janes Campbell 9 - female, must be Jane

Address: High Street, Arbroath The Abbey

I find a David Aitkenhead death  22 Nov 1869 in Western Cemetery, Arbroath which is also where we find an Elisabeth Aitkenhead Petrie who passed 04 December 1886.

Still some missing pieces.  Guessing my searches are missing something key as far as individual records or source material.

Stay safe
