Birth place in Bengal on 15th Aug 1922 of Francesca GURNER
« on: Monday 04 February 19 18:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone!
Seems ages ago that I was asking for help on the India boards, but is it possible that someone could find the place of birth for my aunt Francesca Gurner, who was born on 15th August 1922, somewhere in Bengal.
Gold star for anyone who can find her for me!
Many thanks,
Keith

All that is online is Howrah, St Thomas in 1922. Full details probably available at the British Library.

This could be her baptism.  :-\

Nanny Jan,
Very well done with that.  I'll tell my cousin to head to the British Library to find the whole truth about her birth registration.  But that does indeed look like a church baptism entry.  Must look Howrah up on the modern map now...

Nanny jan,
Sorry to trouble you again, but can I ask whether these online baptismal  records for the Bengal area are available free to anyone, or do they require a subscription to view.
My cousin is pestering me for a possible image of this 15-08-1922 entry.  Apparently both mother and baby Francesca were not at all well after the birth, and the baptism occurred the very same day, just in case there was not a happy ending...
Keith

Referring to British India Office Births and Baptisms extracted to Findmypast:

Births after 1915
In compliance with data protection laws fewer details and no images are available for births dating to after 1915. Full details are available to researchers who visit the British Library in person.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

Quote from a Rootschatter who has checked for a British India Birth post 1915 at the British Library on behalf of a fellow Rootschatter

" The BL only has about 70% of the India Records, the rest have been lost in the passage of time or never deposited when they were supposed to have been"

(Fortunately, the birth being checked for in this instance was among the 70% held).
